Decada Group
Chase Murdock is the CEO of Decada Group, a long-term holding company that acquires and permanently stewards businesses in Utah. Alongside his longtime friend and co-founder Adam Malmborg, Chase takes a long view to ownership, favoring craftsmanship, strong fundamentals, and continuity over speed or financial engineering.
When Decada acquires a company, it treats the transition as a baton pass — honoring what came before while carefully building what comes next. Today, Decada permanently owns and stewards several businesses based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Patina Capital
In parallel, Chase runs Patina Capital, his personal firm devoted to patient capital and lasting impact. Patina works in three modes — CEO Counsel, Partnership, and Capital — offering counsel to the person in the seat, principal partnership in the business itself, and minority investment where the fit is right. The work is selective by design, grounded in stewardship rather than short-term outcomes.
Civic work
Chase is also involved in civic and nonprofit work, primarily around small business advocacy and community building in Utah and Washington, D.C. He serves on the boards of the Utah Independent Business Coalition and GREENbike.
Writing
He writes across several contexts — evergreen essays on leadership and stewardship, community-focused work, and more personal reflections. His writing explores what it takes to build businesses, and lives, meant to last.
